Chuck Platinum reminds us the importance of Storytelling in HIp Hop Evangelist

The self proclaim King of Rap stood his ground and made his mark as with Hip Hop Evangelist, with the one goal in mind ” To Move the Culture ”  Snapple Fact, not only the project was produced by the likes of Jimmy Kendrix and  Roboti Nero from Germany but 11 out of the 15 songs were produced by Platinum himself. So not only is he a storyteller but he is a writer and producer getting all the credits under his belt.

Forewarning, if you are part of the millenial crew that wants to watch people jump around a stage and call it rap you probably wont like this . Hip Hop Evangelist is the body of work that has you thinking about everything. Platinum directed his project the same way Pac told his stories in his songs Dear Mama , Hail Mary, and Baby dont cry.  Platinum discusses relationship hardships in relationship woes, calling everyone out on their relationship drama calling some men selfish when they are with females that one day they love them one day they dont then when there is someone else paying attention to them they get mad.  In addition if some of the stories were not about him and his life such as The Joy he describes true life instances.  The Joy featuring Black Friday and Dyamond was interesting, it was the debut for his daughter Dyamond where he discusses her life as such a milestone changing his life forever.

Lastly before we sign off you must check out the features he has, the 15 song lp has features from Bronx’s own Kony Brooks,  RnB singer Julz and Black Friday . They helped balance the project and gave it the extra element that every storyteller needs.

Rank Rated – Baggage

West Coast artist inspires others to ‘Rank Up’ with new music

LOS ANGELES, CA – Regardless of what we go through in life or what we face, no matter the adversities, we can always elevate.

That’s the core concept behind everything that West Coast artist Rank Rated does. His music, his art and his message is all about being better. And the long road he’s been on – from homelessness to successful entertainer – is a testament that with determination and a dream, you can fulfill your destiny.

Two of his most recent singles by upcoming composer PacoTheProducer– “Valid” and “Baggage” – speak directly to that life motto and tap into depths of his talent in ways that bring forward a new wave of sound and style for a generation desperate for something original. With “Valid” which is slated to drop on July 26, Rank Rated rails against the social norm of validation that pops up in multiple places of our lives.

“Everyone is looking for validation today,” he said. “We live in a time where everything has to have validation – whether it’s a credit score or experience in whatever industry you’re in, or even likes on social media. Whatever it is, we’re all seeking some type of validation and more often than not, we’re seeking that from other individuals. I had people who told me I couldn’t do certain things, but here I am. I validated myself and pushed forward based on what I knew I could do.”

Rank also reveals how through social media and mutual friends he has met people like DJ FiveVenoms, director JDfilms, and Quavo. He also stated an affiliation with JGreen (of YNW), whose manager Rank has been in contact with for a while and who he respectfully calls “Unc.” Rank also noted his independence through platform United Masters which features other artists such as Lil Tecca and Choppa on their roster.

With “Baggage,” which was released in June, Rank Rated explores the hard work it takes to attain success. And once you achieve that success, the symbols that come with that, such as the baggage you bring with you as you’re traveling the world, can be an affirmation of that hard work that brought you to this point.

“I’m doing my thing right now, living my life and catching flights,” he said. “That’s what this song is about. It’s about getting to the money, a fun song that really says, ‘I don’t care what anybody else has to say.’”

“At the end of the day, I hope my music is known for being inspirational, in a way,” Rank Rated said. “I was able to do it so you can, too. Ranking up is something everyone can and should do, whether that’s getting a promotion at a job or trying to create a better life for yourself. Rank is having status. Rank is everything. So tell your haters to Rank Up.

In addition to his two most recent singles, Rank Rated has also released a new EP called “Far From Regular” which is available on all digital distribution outlets. With catchy lines about baggage and baguettes that slide on the beat, fans will definitely be eager to hear more.

Brandon McCrae – Nightmares & Dreams

New single from Brandon McCrae
captures new sound of ‘hip pop’

PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, MD – Brandon McCrae is the total package. This hip hop artist from Prince George’s County in Maryland writes, produces, mixes and masters all of his own music. And he has developed such a one-of-a-kind sound that people all along the East Coast have been sitting up and paying attention to.

His newest single, “Nightmares and Dreams,” is a mixture of hip hop and pop underneath an upbeat, fast-tempo groove that invites listeners into a good time. Self-described as a “catchy vibe,” the single is something that came from his attempt to combine multiple genres into one hard-hitting song that would put people in a groove and give them a good time.

McCrae has been producing since he was in high school. He also started battle rapping in high school, and by college had developed a unique sound to the point where he started selling his beats. He made a name for himself, first at North Carolina Central University and then at Morgan State University. That name has continued to grow to more fans all along the East Coast as he has continued to create hit after hit.

“When I decided to become a Do-It-Yourself artist, I needed to learn how to mix, so I left Morgan State University and went to Full Sail University and joined the recording arts programs,” he said. “Since then, I have built a catalog which I am ready to release. My production and my flow set me apart from anybody else out there. My production is elaborate and intricate. I definitely have my own style, and I like to combine different styles so you can get the best of every world. I want to be known for being able to do it all – mixing, producing, writing. A lot of music sounds the same today and I want people to be able to distinctively tell my music apart because of the quality.”

McCrae not only writes, produces and mixes all of his music, but he also plays multiple instruments. He plays the drums, violin, piano, guitar, and a variety of other instruments whenever the mood strikes. He’s inspired by stories from life – whether his own stories or those of people who come in and out of his life. Sometimes his lyrics talk about the up and downs of life but more often than not, his music has a message paired with “just good music.” He aspires to leave an impact on the world in ways similar to his inspirations – Kanye West, Chain Smokers, Lost Kings and Chance the Rapper.

In addition to “Nightmares and Dreams” which dropped July 12, McCrae is working on an EP that he plans to release later this fall.

M.A.D.E (Kohn x Sxaks) Debut “New Dawn City” EP

Steve ‘lets go guy’ Sxaks, a renowned producer, musician, engineer, and teacher links with young rising star and MC Kohn for the creation of M.A.D.E. This debut producer/MC collaboration spans beyond music. M.A.D.E is a movement and brand already sparking a blaze in Philly and Southern Jersey.  “I’m a strong lyricist with a positive message and I truly want to make a difference in the world. The movement which stands for Make A Difference Everyday, will have a huge impact on humanity.” -KOHN

The 9-track EP “New Dawn City” embodies classic storytelling, thought provoking lyricism, catchy anthems, and even something for the ladies.  “Welcome To New Dawn City” and “Ambition” are catchy anthem style records for clubs and house parties.  While the smooth, hypnotic flow of “Driveway” will wake the ladies and “Glo” will wake and motivate the masses to grind until they reach their shine. “M.A.D.E”, “City Limits”, “Trial”, and “Crash” are records filled with lyrical venom and hard truths about a come up, moving forward, and claiming a deserved stance in the music industry and life.

The transcendental chemistry between Kohn and Sxaks is a driving force set to take over indie Hip-Hop music.  The production stirs up a kaleidoscope of soundscapes and tones from jazz and funk to a fusion of old school meets new school cadences, to electric pulsating beats perfectly blended for a unique ‘ear milk’ deliverance.
