TFT – Lenox Ave

Identical twins combine musical talent to make TFT

ATLANTA, GA – There are regions of the world that have identifiable “sounds” or sub-genres of music. There’s West Coast hip-hop, Atlanta trap and Chicago drill. New York is no different, but the young identical twins from Brooklyn who make up the group TFT are on the forefront of creating a new sound and style for New York. Their fusion of lyricism and drilling trap beats is showcased perfectly on their new song “Lenox Ave.”

Described as a song that “everybody can play wherever they are – in a car, the club or at home,” “Lenox Ave” has the perfect kind of vibe for kicking back and enjoying life. It’s lyrics pull from the twin brothers’ life experiences and connect with fans not only through shared stories, but also through the universal language of music.

Born in 1994, these identical twins have always been close. Growing up, their mother used to listen to music all the time, and they would often watch BET to find even more music. They recall writing lyrics pretty much as soon as they were old enough to know how to write, and even before that were turning their nursery rhymes into rap hymns. Her mother encouraged their love for music, and taught them how to mix music. She was a DJ for a time, and always made a point to educate her children about music by showing them musical legends to study – such as Big Daddy Kane, Nas, Boogie Down Production, Tupac, Wu Tang, Queen Latifah and more.

At the age of 20, the brothers had collaborated on enough music to put out their first release – a demo called “Twin Takeover.” That was the start of a professional career that has taken off in the years since, and now they’re ready to take that next big leap forward.

In addition to “Lenox Ave,” TFT is also ready to release a single called “The World.” True to its name, it’s a song that explores how the brothers feel about the world and how people are looking at them now. Due to drop before the end of March, the song features straight lyrics and bars in a way that will make listeners want to nod their heads. And more than anything, at the end of the day the brothers say they hope people will see them as great lyricists who make great hip-hop music.

Ben Grizz – Steak and Rice

Ben Grizz Keeps Charts Hot with “Expensive Taste”

FITCHBURG, MA – If you want to know who’s currently making his bid to become Massachusetts’ next hip-hop star, look no further than Ben Grizz. Growing up around the music, Ben often found himself dabbling into it. He only started buckling down in efforts to grow his career as an artist about a year ago. The growth is impressive because ever since then, he has taken his talents to the next level.

Ben describes the past year as a complete rollercoaster. With developing his sound and perfecting his craft, he’s navigated all of the ups and downs that come with it. “It’s been an experiment finding out what works and what doesn’t. I like to make club music, but I don’t define myself by a genre. I bring a lot to the table,” said Grizz. Adding to that, the artist tells us how genuine he is not only through his music, but also in everyday life. His sound is what he refers to as old school warmth with a modern day punch.

Last October, Ben released his fan-favorite EP “Expensive Taste”. Since then, his music has circulated radio charts, especially hip-hop focused ones. “I’ve gotten some really positive feedback since the release. The album release party sold out, and it was wild. People are really loving it,” said Ben. The album reflects on a lifestyle that the artist lives out each day. Through this, fans can get a peek into his world, which is always respectable.

What’s coming up next in the world of Ben Grizz? This weekend, he has a show in Fitchburg, MA, which will likely have a packed house. He tells us fans can expect a lot more from him, especially from a visual perspective. If you’re in Austin for SXSW, make sure to check him out- he will be there keeping the stage hot!

$pender – Audemars (feat. Lil Cobaine and J Bandz)

Hot new single ‘Audemars’ hits airwaves
from up-and-coming artist $pender

DALLAS, TX – One of Spencer Johnson’s fondest memories from his childhood is of sitting in his grandmother’s living room, listening to her play the piano. Those early moments in his life planted a seed of love for music that grew over time. At age 5 he asked his parents to buy him a guitar, and in the years since he has learned how to play multiple instruments and create music of his own.

Midway through high school, Spencer was introduced to rap by some friends who were freestyling during their lunch breaks. It opened up a whole new world of possibility for him – combining his natural ability as a musician with his talent for writing rapid-fire lyrics that strike a chord with anyone who listens. As he showcased his talent to his classmates, one friend hyped him up and called out the nickname $pender. It stuck, and today $pender is on the fast-track to becoming one of the world’s hottest new hip-hop icons.

Fans can get a taste of his newest music with the single “Audemars,” which just dropped across all digital streaming platforms. Featuring Lil Cobaine, the song uses the Audemars Piguet watch as a metaphor for the finer things in life. $pender said in addition to being a song that people can just chill to and enjoy as a good piece of music, it’s also a song that taps into the core of what he wants to be known for, which is encouraging others to stay positive and chase after their dreams.

“All I really want to do is make people feel a positive vibe and connect with the music,” he said. “I make music that hits you right in the ears and is pleasing. I want to be a person that others see as someone who views everything in life from a positive viewpoint, and I want to help others put that into perspective for themselves. I want to define positive moments through music.”

$pender said the new single is the first release of many to come, leading up to a full album called “Spend Bandz” that he is working on in collaboration with fellow artist J-Bandz. Their plan is to drop singles steadily over the next few months, leading up to a big release of the full album toward the end of the year. $pender said the album with be “like no other album.”

“Every single track will have a different vibe,” he said. “One song will be Latin, another R&B, another straight rap. We’ll have some amazing features on there, like Famous Dex and Lil Cobaine. Mostly we’re going for versatility, but they’ll all be songs that sound good and are pleasing to listen to. I’m just trying to put out what comes from inside of me. I’m making my way up to the top and aspiring to achieve certain things I’ve set my mind on. I’ve always wanted to do something huge with my life, and what I want to do that’s big is in music. I’ve realized that I can reach those dreams, and I’m not gonna stop trying until I do.”

GodKing Lotto – Extra Fly

GodKing Lotto shows off ‘Extra Fly’ music with hot new single

LOS ANGELES, CA – Lebaron Alexander isn’t just Fly … he’s Extra Fly. He’s not just a king, he’s a GodKing. And his music isn’t just good, it’s spectacular.

The up-and-coming artist out of Los Angeles is turning heads so fast with his music that it’s almost causing whiplash. And his new single, “Extra Fly,” is quickly becoming the talk of West Coast clubs and radio stations. Put together in collaboration with Jefe Rey, it’s an upbeat club banger that celebrates the “extra” side of life.

“I’m extra fly, and in this song I’m kind of just saying I’m extra fly doing my thing in every way,” GodKing Lotto said. “I talk about my diamonds in the song. I talk about my Cartier being ordered from New York.  I talk about how I’m so fly that people may try to rob me or hate on me or imitate me, but that’s just the highest form of flattery. Then Jefe comes in and just elaborates on that idea a little more. We not just fly, we extra fly.”

Though GodKing has somewhat of a rocky past, he has also risen from the bottom and put in the hard work to make himself successful in multiple endeavors. In addition to being a musician, he’s also a successful businessman and owns his own convenience store in Compton. That store served as the location for his music video for “3 Kings,” featuring Yella Bezzy. This video is set to drop in mid-February.

GodKing started doing music around age 12 or 13. It started as a joke, of sorts, when he and a friend decided to create a rap for one of their science projects.  The song they did didn’t blow up throughout the school but their teacher loved it and had them perform for a different class to show them off to her co-worker/friend and her class. He was hooked on music from that moment forward.

“After that I tried to everything with music,” he said. “I was always clever with patterns, and I liked the idea of words being put down like patterns. That was fun to me. And I’ve just grown more and more from there. Today I want to be known for having bars and as someone who is lyrical. A lot of these new rappers coming out lack a fundamental element that I think every essential rapper needs, which are skill and a lyrical content. I think the ability to be a lyrical artist with content with huge, and when people hear my music they’ll know I’m a real person with that good lyrical content.”

Mo Racks – Smoke

South African native Mo Racks brings
aggressive new style to hip-hop and R&B fusion

LOS ANGELES, CA – A lot of people who meet Hillary Morake would probably call her sweet, friendly and fashionable. All of those things are true. But when the South African artist dons her stage persona, Mo Racks, something unpredictable and raw starts to take over – something that brings a passion and aggressiveness to the music scene.

Her most recent single, “Smoke,” is the perfect example of this unique style of music. Combining the flavors of R&B and hip-hop with the House music that’s more native to her home country of South Africa, “Smoke” explores the relationship drama that can come from and up-and-down romance. It’s a song that showcases her ability to both sing and rap, while also bringing a powerful beat that demands listeners to move. Though it’s only been out for a short time, it has already garnered some major attention from fans all over the U.S. “I started my career about four years ago in South Africa making House music,” Mo Racks said.

“I’m a singer, and I have always listened to R&B music. I’ve also always felt shy and it wasn’t until I discovered rap music that I found this outlet to express what was in my heart and my head. I write all my songs. I feel like people receive my message better in a rap than just singing. I’m still doing both things in my music, and this song is kind of a perfect blend of everything that I do.”

The single will be one of six on an upcoming EP that she said is set to drop in mid-February. All of the songs on that EP will deal with the experiences of her life and the journeys she has taken to get to where she is today in her career.

“This EP will really be about getting to know me and how I am as a musician,” she said. “I don’t say much or speak much on a daily basis, but through my music you can get to know me.

Everything in this EP is true and has happened to me or I’ve seen it – and I put it all into song. Coming from a family of entertainers – my mom was a model and my grandma was a dancer – I always knew what it looked like to entertain other people. But now I’m taking it to another level, and this EP is my first steps toward taking it further and trying to go international.”

Mo Racks worked with engineer Alexey Vonorov on the EP and said she credits a lot of his work for the unique sound that comes through on the project. She also said the EP is just the first of many new projects to come this year, and she’s eager for fans to check out some of the new music she’s been working on.
